2012 Costume Contest

The Mystic Krewe of Mardi Paws is going way BARK IN TIME this year - do you have what it takes to bring home the coveted prizes?

There's many ways to explore this year's theme, just un-leash your imagination to showcase anything RETRO or from time's past – celebrate your favorite decade... the music, the car, the clothes, the hula hoop, you name it – anything goes!

One GRAND CHAMPION prize will be awarded in addition to the Judge's Selection of the Top Ten "BEST IN SHOW" costumes fitting the theme -

"Mardi Paws goes BARK IN TIME!”

All winners receive a signature work of art "Poop" Trophy by local artist Ted Pullig. You can get a glimpse of all of Ted’s work at the new Zorro’s FUNzone for Dogs in Old Mandeville. They not only have cool stuff for pets and people, but now doggie daycare, boarding and Do-It-Yourself Dog Washing available. 2012 Contest Rules

1. No group is too large or too small to participate - but you must be a "paid" parade participant.

2. Everyone who wants to participate in the costume contest MUST BE RESPONSIBLE FOR STOPPING AT THE FOOT OF THE BRIDGE FOR THE PARADE VIDEO/PHOTO TO BE CAPTURED. This area will have a volunteer present and will be clearly marked – basically, it’s at the official start of the parade!

You do not have to purchase ANYTHING, but we are just using this as part of the judging procedure!

3. Your race number must be clearly visible at all points in the parade to be considered.

4. The first phase of judging will take place at the Reviewing Stand by the judges.

If the distance to the Reviewing Stand is too far for you or your dog, don't worry, everyone's photograph will be reviewed and judged at a later date also.

5. WINNERS WILL NOT BE ANNOUNCED AT THE PARADE AGAIN THIS YEAR! You do not need to stay around, or make it to the parade's end to win. All winners will be notified no later than one week after the parade, and their names/numbers will be posted on-line also.

6. Pick up prizes at our Post-parade Pawty on Saturday, March 10th from 1-3pm. Party details will be announced. Winners do not have to attend our Post-parade party to receive their prize, but it would be preferable.

7. Have a Heart thru Art volunteers and ROYAL HAIRS are excluded from the contest.

8. We will have a professional panel of 10 judges headed up by Master of Ceremonies Alan Avdoyan, Becky Vest, Sharon Scheib, and Karla Partridge!
